Following a 4-wicket win away to Bledlow III in their last match of the League season the 2nd XI leapfrogged over Leighton Buzzard to take 1st place in Division 9B.
Leighton, who had been 9 points ahead for the last couple of weeks, had a low-scoring draw against Bicester & North Oxford IV and so finished in second place 6 points adrift.
It's reported that a Red Cross lorryload of aspirin was needed!!
After putting Bledlow in PRCC's opening attack of Andy Sheldon (6-37) and Laurence Brooker (4-41) pinned the early batsmen down with unerring accuracy from the former and a mix of accuracy and unplayable deliveries from his younger partner. Although the early overs produced few runs and only one wicket the collapse which followed was like a stack of dominoes. The highlights were a number of devastating yorkers from LB (including a corker to dismiss Rob Fitzgerald) and Andy's 40th League wicket of the season, assisted by a couple of smart stumpings from Andy Pitt.
In reply Kevin Dodds once again looked as if he would knock the runs off on his own and then got out when set, precipitating mild panic as batsmen got themselves out. However Bledlow's total was never enough and it wa sfitting that Matt Fields was there at the end even though the honour of scoring the winning boundary went to Alan Dell.
