Match report PRCC suffered again from Matt Fields' failure to win the toss when they played Div 9 laggards Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts IV on Saturday.
Putting PRCC in to bat on a good batting track Nondies thought they were in clover when opener Kevin Dodds departed in the first over for a duck and with PRCC's score at 1-1. However fellow opener Steve Bromhall dominated a poor Nondescripts attack with a display of forceful hitting, eventually reaching 134 before being overcome by fatigue and old age.
He was ably supported by Martin King (32), showing new confidence at no. 3 and Graham Linger (46 no and unusually restrained). On Bromhall's departure Paul Daly (50 no) took up where he'd left off with a good half century before a declaration at 299-3 with only 42 overs gone.
Bottom of the table Nondescripts never looked likely to go for the runs and only Toby Oxburrow (68 no) batted with competence to show what a good batting track this really was. Despite a good spell of kiddology from Jon (Fridge) Witney who took 6-32, 10-man Nondescripts finally held out for a draw at 149-8, with their last man at the crease for the last 3 of the 61 overs they faced.
So the seconds had to be content with 16 points instead of the 25 which they might have expected.
