Match report A hard fought draw, and Hitchcock keeps showing the rest of us how to do it...

After dodging bad weather for a lot of the early afternoon, we won the toss and elected to bowl, hoping the moisture would help us out. However the pitch proved to be a belter, and despite good new ball bowling, wickets were hard to come by as batsmen played and missed repeatedly, edges didn't go to hand, and half chances weren't taken. Some good batting from Purley made going tough, and despite being 90-3 after thirty overs, Purley posted 239 from 52 overs, with Wes Strecker and Steve Greaves being the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, Ris lost some early wickets before Mark Shimmin came in to bat and took control, playing sensible but aggressive cricket, playing himself in before hitting 11 boundaries including two 6's on his way to a speedy 63, before time ran out quite literally! Andy Hitchcock picked up where Shim left off, again showing the rest of us how it's done in making an unbeaten 49 including nine boundaries, steering us to safety, helped by some solid batting from Steve, Graham Linger and Ali Bee. In the end Ris finished on 205-8 from 48 overs.
