Match report A poor toss to lose (sorry!) due to the favourable bowling conditions early in the day meant that batting first was always going to be tricky, especially given the three week break most of us have had from playing. Wes started in customary fashion, scoring boundaries at will until feathering a catch behind, while the rest of the top order found things harder going against the moving ball. A patient innings by James Bee stabled the innings, and Andy Hitchcock top scored with 37 until running out of partners, leaving Risborough with 129, which with a rapidly drying pitch and outfield looked below par.

And so it proved to be. Accurate opening spells from Steve and Shelly didn't get the reward they deserved, as both openers nearly played on a few times, and struggled to keep the ball along the ground. Lau made the breakthrough with the new ball and kept things tight with James Bee standing up to the stumps to make things difficult for the batsmen, and Wes was rewarded for his persistence by removing the other opener. Andy Hitchcok's love affair with bowling up the hill continued, striking early in his spell and only conceding 6 runs off his four overs, and Imran bowled with customary accuracy.

Overall, a few positives, but disappointing to start with a loss, although I can't see the same result happening in the return fixture.
