Slough 4 v Princes Risborough Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 16 Jun 2012 at 1pm
Princes Risborough Cricket Club Won by 87 runs
Match report
Won the toss on what looked like a good batting track on a windy, unpleasant day! The early loss of Wes, Pratik and Dave B was countered by a patient and well crafted 35 by Matt Greaves until he was run out. James Bee and Lau then both started carefully, but steadied the innings, picking up one's and two's and gradually builing the total. James completed his maiden first team 50, barely giving a chance and playing very sensibly, eventually caught out for 57, and a partnership of nearly 90 with Lau. The lower order then continued to keep the score board ticking over with sensible shots and good running between the wickets, with Lau hitting three sixes along the way, eventually out for 40. In the end, Ris were 177-8 from the overs, a very good result considering 120-130 was seeming more likely for most of the innings.
In reply, Wes continued his purple patch of new ball bowling, claiming wickets consistently, and not giving away easy runs, well supported by Shelly and then Lau from the other end. Wes got his first 5-fer for the first team, a well deserved return for bowling in good areas at good pace. Spin then took over, with Ali getting consistent big turn and bounce from one end, including a wicket in a good seven over spell, with Greavsie doing what Greavsie does from the other end...wickets for not many runs. Slough all out for 90, nice revenge after coming close against their thirds last year. The bowlers were very well supported by the fielders, and outstanding catching, take a bow Pratik, I don't think any of us fancied that last one, your FORTH! Must be some kind of record.
All in all, another very good performance, and pleasingly an improvement on last week. Everyone continues to contribute to the wins. Let's keep it going and improve again next week.
Man of the Match: James Bee.
