Match report A good toss to win on a damp, overcast morning was quickly vindicated by good new ball bowling by both Lau and Wes, which got an early wicket, and gave away very few runs while beating the bat regularly. The pressure was kept up by both Steve and Andy Hitchcock, which led to wickets falling with increasing regularity during spells of persistent, testing bowling. The 4-man England-esque attack (3 seamers, 1 spinner) was backed up well by the team in the field, leading to two run outs and several well held catches. A late flurry of runs as the pitch flattened out got Hayes to 141.

In reply, Wes and Matt negotiated the first couple of overs against slow bowlers, and then both began to score freely with Wes hitting powerfully to most parts of the ground, complemented by textbook cover driving by Matt. The pair put on 100 in around 15 overs, hitting 20 boundaries between them, with Wes reaching his 50. Both were out having done most of the hard work, allowing Pratik and Dave Brooker to finish the job in 26 overs for a comprehensive win.
