Princes Risborough Cricket Club 1st XI v British Airways 3 on Sat 09 Jun 2012 at 1pm
Princes Risborough Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets
Match report
Another great effort by the ground staff to provide a more than playable pitch and pristine outfield (as usual) following another week of terrible weather actually led to a good toss to lose as the oppo chose to bat on a damp, overcast morning. Once again, good new ball bowling by Lau and Wes took 3 early wickets while bowling a large number of maidens and giving little away aside of that. This was followed by an exceptional spell by Andy Sheldon, who was the pick of the bowlers and unlucky not to take more than two wickets. 7 maidens in 12 overs kind of compensates though? Steve G bowled with good variations and accuracy at the other end, keeping the pressure on and continuing to take wickets. In the end, British Airways all out for 87, good bowling for the conditions backed up by another good performance by the youngsters in the field, including a well taken catch by James Willard, and very tidy keeping as usual by James Bee.
In response, despite losing Matt early, Wes scored a few early boundaries to get the board ticking over. Against a very disciplined and accurate attack, even the small target was going to be a challenge on a pitch that was still helpful to the bowlers. Eventually, an important stand of 41 between Pratik and James Bee did the majority of the work, with Pratik finishing unbeaten on 30 with what proved to be a match winning innings. Mention must also go to the Br00kers, who both got ducks, to the same bowler, same dismissal, from the same delivery. Good effort.
All in all, a very good, hard fought victory in what proved to be a hostile atmosphere towards the end.
Man of the Match: Pratik. For his batting, not for nearly hurting himself in the field again.
