Chesham 3 v Princes Risborough Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 29 Jun 2013 at 1.00pm
Princes Risborough Cricket Club Won by 117 runs
Match report
Strecker smashes Risborough to a timely victory at previously unbeaten Chesham.
After losing the toss on a damp pitch, PRCC were put into bat. After an opening stand of 32, the loss of two quick wickets caused some concern, however opening bat Wesley Strecker continued to hit frequent boundaries, and quickly reached 50 from only 42 balls. After being dropped just after reaching his 50, he regrouped and continued to score quickly, hitting boundaries almost at will, reaching his first hundred of the season with ease in 84 balls. He went on to pass 150, and was eventually out for a superb 184, which included 27 4's and 1 6. Having scored a double hundred last season, he has shown the ability of being able to build substantial innings when he gets set. He was well supported by Pratik Bhattacharya (40) in a 160 run third wicket partnership, and also by James Bee (44). PRCC declared on 306-5 from 45 overs.
In reply, with very aggressive and somewhat strange field settings, the new ball pair of Laurence Brooker and Wes Strecker (him again) removed the two opening batsmen in fairly quick time. Andy Hitchcock then bowled a testing 13 over spell (4-25), which accounted for the middle order, supported by an excellent spell from Bucks u-15 leg spinner Ali Bee, who somehow managed to not take a wicket. A period of stubborn resistance gave Chesham a chance of holding out for a draw, before the occasional off spin of Matt Greaves took two vital wickets in quick succession, before a run out took the final wicket in the 52nd over, as PRCC won by 117 runs.
A timely win after a few disappointing results, which sets up PRCC well for the second half of the season.
